Villages and cities
Tubbergen
Tubbergen lies in the Northeast of Twente. Its a quiet, agricultural and full of nature area bordering to Germany. Enjoy the rural churchvillages, rye fields and century-old oaks. Famous is the “Kroezeboom” at the Fleringer Es, an oak that has seen more than 500 years of history. There is a chapel near it where services were held in secrecy.
The village offers a lively main street where you can get your daily groceries.
Have a look at the St. Pancratius basilica, which has famous stained glass painted windows made by the 5 generations of the Nicolas family.
At the top of the Tubbergse Es you will find a triple lifesize statue of Mgr. H.J.A. Schaepman. This historical figure, priest, politician and poet is born in Tubberen. His house of birth, “de Eeshof”, an 18th century Manor is now a home for the elderly.
Ootmarsum
At about 7km away from our holidaypark lies the touristtown of Ootmarsum, a lively little city where you can visit lots of art galleries. The town centre looks protected and defendend and there are lots of historical buildings as well. Main attractions are the “Westfaalse Hallenkerk” and the city hall.
